DURING THIS YEAR YOU WILL EXPERIENCE CONNECTIVITY ISSUES
Planning Ahead
Always have a back up plan when you have connection issues. Here's some ideas:
- If we're doing 100% DL, you can use the time you were supposed to be live and do a pre-recorded lesson and then post it for students to view.
- Reschedule the meeting (knowing it may not be perfect and not all may show up because it's a change).
- May want to have a balance lessons out (some pre-recoded, some live) so that if you had issues, the student can still work on the pre-recorded assignments if things went wrong.
- Other...
Reading your Access Points
Each instructional area has an Access Point (AP). This provides WiFi to that area. Each AP is designed to handle 30 devices.

What do I do when I experience connectivity issues on campus?
- Look at the colored lights on your AP. If the AP light is ORANGE OR RED, contact Tech immediately. Proceed to #4 listed below. If it's BLUE or GREEN, proceed to the following instructions.
- Restart your computer
- Toggle Wifi OFF then back ON on your teacher computer. Sometimes if you're always moving from room to room, sometimes your WiFi is still trying to connect to the last room you were in. So toggling it OFF then back ON again may help. You may need to do this a few times.
- Close out any applications you have running that don't' need to be open and running.
- If you're not using YouTube, you can try switching to the STUDENT WiFi network or the FACULTY WiFi network
- Hardwire into the network. Some of you have an adapter to hardwire in. When hardwiring in, make sure you turn OFF WiFi.
- Clear your cache: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
- Try eliminating/disconnecting things (remove Chromebook, remove iPad, disconnect 2nd monitor)
- If you're running extensions such as (adding backgrounds, attendance, raise hand, breakout rooms etc), try removing them.
- Move to a new location within your room. If you don't have students with you, go to a different location on campus (PLC room/hub etc) and try to connect there. You may need to toggle wifi off and back on again once you get to the new location.
- Always notate the location, date and time of connectivity issues. Keep a log of it.
- Communicate with families and students via Seesaw messages to let them know you're having connectivity issues.
- Please submit a Tech Request when you're having issues. Please make sure you do the above before notifying us. We would like to monitor the trouble areas. We kinda already have an idea of where these locations are.
